REVIEW// Tarte Tartlette in Bloom Palette

Hey guys!

Remember the Tarte Tartelette Palette? The eyeshadow palette EVERYONE had, and if they didn't, was number one on their wishlist? With a gorgeous assortment of mattes, the Tartelette Palette was absolutely stunning, and put a new spin on neutral palettes compared to their competitors.

I'm not going to lie, I don't own the original palette and now I probably never will. It was always on my wishlist, but I just never got around to actually making the purchase. But as soon as I saw photos of this palette, I needed it like I have never needed a palette before. I stalked trendmood, Tarte's website, waited for a release date, swatches, a price, review, anything that would keep me informed. As soon as it was released on Tarte's website, I went through Comgateway's Buy For Me service (seeing as Tarte doesn't accept international payment) for the first time ever so that I could have it in my hot little hands as soon as possible.

And boy, do I not regret it in the slightest at all.

This is what dreams are made of. In a palette. Oh Tarte you did so very well.

First of all, let's talk about the packaging. Gold detailing on a purply/pink/red background, its very swanky and veeeerrrry visually appealing. You then open up the palette to see a huuuuuge mirror, and the most gorgeous neutral shades laid out in front of you. If that doesn't grab you immediately, the chocolate cupcake smell will.

I've used this palette pretty much everyday since it arrived on my doorstep. Can you tell by my use of Smarty Pants in the photo? The shadows are incredibly pigmented and buttery, and it takes nothing to build them up. I'll be honest and say that the shade that sold me on this palette was Firecracker - a beautiful bronze, shimmer shade. It just does not disappoint in the slightest for me personally, and if you are someone who uses and abuses warm neutral shadows like yours truly, you are definitely going to need this palette.

And if that rave review hasn't sold you, let me swatch this bad boy for you:

 Charmer, Jetsetter, Rocker, Smokeshow

Flower Child, Smarty Pants, Firecracker, Activist

Funny Girl, Sweetheart, Rebel, Leader

My favourite shades thus far are Jetsetter, Rocker, Smarty Pants, Firecracker, Funny Girl and Sweetheart. But really, all of the shades in this palette are amazing, and I can guarantee I'll be using all the shades in this palette in one way or another.

Now, if you look at the original palette and back at this one, don't you think the original is almost a little boring in a way? The Tartelette In Bloom palette, for me, makes up for everything the original lacked. I can't imagine myself purchasing the original palette anymore now that I own this one. I don't think I could ever go back honestly.

Now that I'm sure I've sold you, you can purchase it here from Sephora or the Tarte website for $45. It hasn't been released to the Australian market yet, but when it does I'll be sure to update you all. In the meantime, you can use a shipping service to get it here for you. I personally use Comgateway - here is a post detailing my thoughts on them and their service :)

Have you tried this palette? Which would you prefer - the original Tartelette or Tartelette 2?

Until next time...

foundation friday: laura mercier silk creme foundation

Hey guys!

It's that time of the week again - and this weeks Foundation Friday will be all about the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. One of my favourite foundations ever, and probably as close to holy grail status as I've been able to get so far in terms of foundation.

Never was there a foundation that I wanted to try more than a Laura Mercier one. Seriously, when I went to the States last year, this was the first foundation on my list. I didn't even care about the price! I had heard so much, and seen so many reviews and swatches, and see how gorgeous it looks on the skin that I knew I would love it from the moment I locked eyes on it in Sephora.

You guys voted this in this week - so read on to see a full review on one of the best foundations available (in my opinion - or everyones, whatever)!

First of all, packaging - its a burgundy, slightly shimmery tube, with white lettering. It's a squeeze tube, so it doesn't have a pump, which means it is a little hard to determine how much will come out. Especially since this is a foundation where a little goes a long way, it would be handy to have a pump. But beggars can't be choosers.

This is a mousse formula, really thick, but easy to blend out. As for the coverage - this is super duper high coverage. It is not what I would personally call an everyday foundation, purely because of how much coverage it gives. You really only need the smallest amount to cover your entire face and achieve that full coverage, bur you do need to be careful as if you overstep that line between just enough product and too much product, you are possibly going to be a cakeface.

In saying that, despite the fact that it is high coverage, it has this gorgeous luminous finish to it. Its not matte or completely dewy, but my skin always looks healthy and fresh when I wear this. I love how easy it is to make my skin look absolutely amazing, and in photos too! I always wear this when I go out clubbing with friends or to an event that I know I will be photographed because it looks that great on.

Here are some swatches to give you an idea how much this covers (including my sore, which is apparently still here three weeks later:)

As you can see, it covers my sore, my veins and any other imperfections that I may have - but it still looks like skin. I just adore this foundation. It's very high up there in my foundation ranks, and I would highly suggest that if you are after a full coverage foundation (whether it be for everyday, or for special occasions) that gives you a glowly, radiant finish, that you give this one a go. I could go on for days about how beautiful it looks on, but really you just have to try it for yourself. Plus, the fact that you barely need any to cover your face means that it will last forever and ever.

You can find Laura Mercier products at David Jones, with the Silk Crème foundation priced at $59AU

Thanks for reading! Hope you found this interesting, and quite possibly your new foundation purchase ;)

Have you tried this foundation? Let me know in the comments below!

Also, because this was a late post (my bad), there will be FOUR blog posts this week.

Until next time...

review & swatches: rimmel london moisture renew lipsticks

Hey guys!

Todays post is all about these gorgeous new additions to the Rimmel London line. I was sent a selection of these to try out and I am loving them so much that I decided to write this to tell you guys about them! Especially given that these are drugstore releases, so they are easy on the wallet! I think these are the new re-formulated version of the Moisture Renew line with all new colours and packaging, but I'm not 100% sure (#badbeautyblogger). In any case, I have been playing around with these for a week now and I have been loving everything about them!

These lipsticks are so beautiful to wear - so beautifully creamy and opaque. They glide on super easy, and are are pretty much full pigmentation with one swipe. The fact that they are 'moisture renew' lipsticks means that they aren't drying on your lips, and they don't catch on any dry patches either. While I'm not sure if they actually moisturise my lips any more than a normal lip balm, they don't take away any hydration either.

Heres an overview of the lipsticks I own!

Ringa Ringa Roses

A beautifully light pink with shimmers throughout.

Vintage Pink

A gorgeous everyday mauve, with a hint of purple undertones

As You Want Victoria

A muted fuschia pink shade, that's still incredibly wearable!

Diva Red

A deeper wine red shade.

In Love With Ginger

My favourite of the bunch - an a very warm red with a strong orange undertone. The most perfect summer colour, I cannot wait to wear it with bronzed skin.

Swatches (l-r): Ringa Ringa Roses, Vintage Pink, As You Want Victoria, Diva Red & In Love With Ginger

Can you see how gorgeous these colours are? Just absolutely beautiful, and they all swatch like butter and stay incredibly creamy. I should also mention that the staying power of these, especially the darker shades, is amazing. When swatching these, I wiped my arms with a makeup remover wipe and then soap and the colour still remained faintly. I definitely recommend trying these out if you are after a lipstick that is easy to apply and wear for everyday, and that isn't going dry or crack your lips.

You can find these here at Priceline for $13.95AU!

Have you tried these lipsticks? Let me know your favourite shade down below!

review & swatches: whitening lightning lip glosses

Hey guys!

Happy Hump Day! Finally at Wednesday which means I am one more day closer to being done with university for the semester, and back to making blog posts on the regular - you can only imagine how excited I am.

Because today is Hump Day, and it's the middle of the week where our brains are pretty much mush (try saying that five times fast), I thought I'd do a quick review on the Whitening Lightning Lip Glosses that I got around 2 weeks ago. I had heard so much about these glosses from nearly all my favourite Youtubers, and had always been curious to try them. Once Jaclyn Hill announced that she had collaborated with Color Your Smile to create her own gloss and that she had a set available to purchase on the Whitening Lightning website that consisted of her favourite glosses from the brand, I jumped on it. Not literally, but you get the idea.

Honestly guys, this set is a fantastic deal. The glosses themselves retail for $38US each when at full price. For the set of four glosses, it was $59US, plus a 25% off discount code. With international shipping, I paid $52US. Such a great way to try four at once for less than the price of two. The glosses themselves are amazing. I love how they are non-sticky, opaque and pigmented they are despite being a lipgloss. Plus, they have a handy mirror on the side for you to apply it with. Did I mention they also smell amazing? Because they do!

The Jaclyn Hill Bouquet came with the glosses Nude, Coral Craze, Pink Tiara and Rosehill. Here are some lip swatches and a mini review of each colour:

Nude

My clear favourite of the bunch - this literally goes with any lip colour. It just amplifies what you're wearing and looks stunning even by itself. In the tube, it does look quite beige/brown but on the lips it transforms into this shade above. This has been a staple for me since I got it (even making an advanced appearance in my May Favourites), and I can't see that ending any time soon.

Coral Craze

This is a gorgeous pastel orange shade, and it is Summer in a lipgloss tube. I haven't worn this one yet, but I can see this over an orange lipstick or even just on its own in the warmer months. I was honestly intrigued by this after watching Nicole Guerriero and Casey Holmes use it in their videos. It's just so pretty, but unfortunately it doesn't exactly go with my Winter wardrobe.

Pink Tiara

A soft baby pink shade - this is the perfect princess colour. Again, I'd say its more suited to the warmed months, but still so pretty nonetheless. I can see this over MAC's Snob for the perfect Barbie lip.

Rosehill

And the lipgloss that started this all - Jaclyn Hill's very own concoction! This is a gorgeous rose shade that is quite close to my own lip colour, but a little more red. It's like the Nude shade - very easy to wear and goes with nearly everything. My favourite way to wear this is to actually mix it with the Nude shade to tone it down a little. This is just very natural shade to wear.

All in all, do you need these glosses? I say, with this deal, its definitely worth a try! Considering you are getting FOUR lipglosses for less than the price of two, plus the incredibly reasonable international shipping price. I am typically not a lip gloss person (#longhairproblems), but I am loving these despite that. The only other lip glosses I really like are the NYX Butter Glosses, and these are even better.

You can find the Jaclyn Hill Bouquet here . I'm not sure if it is a limited edition bundle or not - if you're hesitant about trying them, you may want to decide quicksmart!

Have you tried these glosses? Are you as impressed as I am?

Until next time...

revlon matte balms review & swatches

Hey guys!

These little suckers FINALLY hit Australian shores at the end of March, and I for one was so super excited. Given that I had already had a taste of these when I went to the US last November, I was desperate to get the rest of the collection. So, going into my local Priceline almost everyday in February and March (seriously, they must have thought I was some creeper), when they FINALLY got released, I went and brought the rest of the collection. I mean, Priceline did have them BOGO free, so what's a girl to do?

I already have a post on the matte and lacquer balms that I brought in the US here, but I asked on my Instagram if you guys would like to see a review/swatches here on my blog, and the response was an overwhelming yes. I don't think I'll do one on the lacquers - I only own a few and I don't think they measure up to their matte counterparts this time. These are well worth the money, and have such a wide colour range, as well as being easy to apply and for the most part long lasting.

Read on to see lip swatches of the colours!

Swatches (l-r): 205 Elusive, 210 Unaplogetic, 215 Shameless, 220 Showy, 225 Sultry, 230 Complex, 235 Mischievous, 240 Strinking, 245 Audacious & 250 Standout

There are ten shades in all ranging from nudes, pinks, purples, berries and reds. All shades go on pretty smoothly, and most are opaque in one swipe. The above swatches are all one swipe (!), but unfortunately not all of them are as pigmented on the lips. In saying that though, I am really impressed with the whole range, and I think I will get wear out of ALL the colours which is really rare for me. As well as that, I was surprised that two of the colours I didn't think would suit me are probably amongst my favourites of the whole collection. Big thumbs up Revlon, these are amazeballs.

205 Elusive

210 Unapologetic

215 Shameless

220 Showy

225 Sultry

230 Complex

235 Mischievous

240 Striking

245 Audacious

250 Standout

From the lip swatches, you should be able to tell which wear the best. The lighter colours aren't as great in my opinion - the colour itself is nice, but they applier patchier than the others and emphasise any dry flakes on my lips. Other than that, I am so impressed with these and I adore all the colours. Personally, Shameless and Sultry were dark horses for me, and Elusive and Standout are two of my other favourites. But really, you can't go wrong with these!

Let me know if you love these as I do! Which colours do you own?

Until next time...
